Peak

No spirit to console. Hate the player, ’cause I’ve paused and stepped out of the game. Taken time out, with only this life left.

Thirsting for a stream of consciousness, from the bottomless emptiness.

On pause, whilst the rest move on.

My get up and go…

The dream; the delusion; the reality

[A NU People Magazine feature]

50 years on since that famous speech

The impact of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s speech coinciding with the office of America’s first ‘black’ President is monumental. Both historical moments, aligning in the…

Try to please

Try to please everyone (a response to ‘Following status’

I had written this post a few weeks back, but was reluctant to post it because it might offend a few people in my life. Once I realised the irony of my dilemma, I quickly pressed ‘update’ on my wordpress account!

I cannot give you the formula to…

Losing ourselves in language?

'Losing ourselves in language'- looking at linguistic convergence, and its possible impact for ethnic minority groups.

[A NU People Magazine article]

Changing our diction, to reflect our environment (whether it be subtly or noticeably)- everyone does it.   Everyone does it, but should they feel guilty for it? Are we losing ourselves in language?

A few weeks ago, I had an…

3 Reasons Why You Should Embrace Mistakes!

Following the status

Click, click. Tap, tap

Thoughts framed

Click, click. Tap, tap

Personality changed

It’s a bit fucked up that,

We’re looking for likes and retweets

To validate us

Doing more on, than off, insta, facebook or twitter

Claiming the world can be saved with a like and a share of a picture

Click, click. Tap, tap

Friends made

Click, click. Tap, tap

False progress claimed

Following people, not knowing

Where they’re going

Accepting friends, not even liked-

Building another me.

Now we’re accomplished in life ‘cause
We’re rubbing tweet to tweet,

With the social media elite

Friends and followers, providing credibility

Giving license to interpret what is seen

Not daring whisper to a face, their hollered messages,

Behind a locked door, in front of a screen

With no substance or action in-between

Click, click. Tap, tap

No progress gained.

Click, click. Tap, tap

Delusions of grandeur, their levels sustained.

Their identity and voice are bold shadows
Simply mimicking a movement

But still

A pioneer- click

An activist- tap

Thought provoking, all titles they take and are given.

But let’s only have them known as-

Mere online campaigners

And virtual personas.
